Joint Call of the JPI Urban Europe and the Smart Cities Member States Initiative

JPI Urban Europe third call – the ERA-NET Smart Cities and Communities (ENSCC) – in cooperation with the Smart Cities Member States Initiative, will open in December 2014.

Four call topics are defined:

• Smart integrated urban energy and transport systems

• Smart tools and services for integrated urban energy and transport systems

• Smart big data

• Smart governance and smart citizens

Two-stage procedure

For this call a two-stage procedure will be adopted. In the first stage, consortia are invited to submit pre-proposals. After the submission of the pre-proposals, approximately 50 pre-proposals will be selected. The successful consortia will then be invited to elaborate their ideas to full proposals.

Time schedule

  1. Call open: December 2014
  2. Pre-proposal deadline: end of March 2015
  3. Invitations for applicants to submit full proposal: May 2015
  4. Full proposal deadline: September 2015
  5. Funding decisions announced: December 2015/January 2016
  6. Start of projects: December 2015 to March 2016

Funding
A total amount of joint public funding of approximately 20 – 28 M€ will be provided by national and regional funding agencies from twelve European countries (Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey).

CONTACT POINTS OF PARTICIPATING FUNDING AGENCIES

A proposal for substantial support from Horizon 2020 was sent to the EU Commission. A decision is expected in October in 2014.
